A little history  Safegrad came about as a result of the 1993 Mayor's Task Force on Drugs in London, as a way of addressing community concerns regarding teen alcohol use, impaired driving, increased drug use, poor sexual choices, vandalism, and violence at celebrations throughout the year, especially at prom and graduation.  An annual program was developed to bring student leaders and planners together to discuss these issues.  Safegrad was born, and today is a successful model that is duplicated throughout Ontario.
Who's involved?  The Safegrad Celebration Program Committee includes volunteers and professionals in health, business, law, education, transportation, and party planning.

Our mission To equip high school students with information, skills, peer support and community support to plan safer celebrations, not just for grad or prom but throughout the year.

What do we do?  We work toward our mission by planning and hosting events, in particular the annual Safegrad Workshop, which brings graduating student leaders and planners together with representatives from a variety of agencies and services who are interested in helping students plan safer parties. See our WHAT'S HAPPENING page for details.

In addition to these events, we offer this website for students and parents as a source of information and links dedicated to safer parties, and we promote Safegrad, safer party planning, and drug/alcohol responsibility through presentations and publicity in the community.
