What do you need to know ahead of time? Some general knowledge of what your evening or event are going to be like and what it will revolve around. Do you have a theme for the evening? Do you have a location, time and price for your special celebration? Is there anything that you can use to distinguish your class from other years or schools and be unique? These are all things that you can be thinking of before you come in for your appointment to design your invitations. Having a lot of these things settled in your minds ahead of time will allow us to work together more efficiently and quickly to ensure that you have your invitations on time to get selling them. Most schools want to put them on sale at least 3-4 weeks before the event. |
The 4 parts to Invitations 1. The Front This is where you make your first impression. So it has to be catchy. Most schools will put a small graphic and some text on their invitations, others may simply put some text. Remember that these are going to be kept by a lot of people as keepsakes. Here are a couple of samples: ![]() 2. The Back At Bud Gowan Formalwear we generally put our name and address on the back of all the invitations that we produce. We hope that you will allow us to do this in hopes of creating business and continuing to help future grad/prom committees like yours plan SAFE CELEBRATIONS. ![]() 3. The Inside The inside of your invitations is where you actually do the inviting of the attendees. You should mention the date, the time, the location, potentially the theme, and what the required dress code for the event is. Included here are two samples of fairly standard invitations that have been used in the past. ![]() We would encourage you to try to write your own inside of the invitation to give it that personal touch that you can lend to your class of graduates. When you come in to meet with our designer, he or she will look things over and make suggestions for you. ![]() 4. The Pledge This is the part of the invitation that we at Bud Gowan Formalwear feel is the most important. This pledge as seen below, is printed on a separate sheet of paper and inserted into the invitation and given to graduate when they purchase their ticket. The graduate is asked to sign the pledge as an assurance that they will act responsibly on the night of the grad/prom and not ruin it for others. The main reason that we include this is so that you, the grad committee, can enjoy your night and not have to deal with security and drinking and drug problems. Let's face it: you are there that night to enjoy yourself, not throw out your friends. This pledge will allow you to do just that. Once all your attendees have signed their pledges, simply show up at the prom a little early, give the pile of them to the security guard, inform them that no one should be allowed in under the influence and go and enjoy your evening. It's that simple. Will this solve all your problems? No, but it will go a long way to getting there. Below is a sample pledge. "I, _________________________ and my date, pledge to ensure that My School's prom is successful by acting legally and responsibly at both the Prom and any Pre-Prom and Post-Prom activities. I understand that my actions are my own responsibility. If I break this pledge and arrive at the prom under the influence or cause any trouble, I agree to leave quietly without any further disruption to the Prom. I understand that under such conditions, I may not be able to drive. Then I will promise to call a parent, friend, or other relative who promises to pick me up at the __________________. |
