House Rules
Most clubs and bars have what they call "House Rules" – ground rules that people are expected to follow so that everyone at the establishment has a good time. The prom committee should also have house rules so that everyone at the party has a good time. Here are some ground rules that have worked at other proms. Feel free to use them.

Hosting Strategies

Hosting a safe and fun prom or after-grad party doesn’t mean you have to stand on guard all night! However, someone should be designated to deal with difficult situations that could arise. Take these steps to make your job easier...

  • Hire police and /or security staff
  • Make sure there are adults available at all times to back you up
  • Keep your eyes open and tell your guests to watch out for each other. If someone is going to do something stupid or harmful don’t hesitate to stop him or her before it’s too late.
  • Make sure nobody drives under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Don’t tolerate rough or risky behaviour; ask your security people to handle the job if things get rough.
  • Screen guests at the door.If people appear under the influence of alcohol and drugs, deny them entrance. If you do let them in and they subsequently get hurt or hurt someone else, you will pay the price.
  • Bring a cell phone and have a first-aid kit handy.
