Suggestion check out how much they charge and how good a job they do. If you have the money to afford someone artistic who can take your theme and run with it, you’re off to a good start. However, it could be very expensive. Do It Yourself Your grad committee does not have much money, but yet they have impeccable taste. This is a chance to do it yourself. Gather your artsy types, and put them to work. Some tips on how to cut corners: 1) Give the job to next year's graduates. Therefore you get it off your hands and it gives next year's grads the idea of how to do it. 2) Clean out small empty glass juice bottles, wrap them in colored crepe or tissue paper; tie the neck with a pretty ribbon. This creativity turns regular empty glass bottles into beautiful vases. 3) Flowers make excellent bouquets for the table vases. Ask florists for a quantity discount. Colorful carnations, lilies and roses are easy to put together make a magnificent display in a vase. Flowers should be picked up the morning of the event, kept cool and in water or they may look quite sad by party time. 4) If flowers are not in the playing cards, try balloon bouquets. Group a variety of colors, sizes and shapes, mounted on sticks or long straws for a pretty flower substitute. 5) Ask the DJ for a disco ball, usually they have one on hand. Simple light reflecting off the ball adds to the atmosphere. 6) Indoor Christmas lights always work too. Drape them over banisters and around the room. Try the tiny white ones for a subtle effect. |
